Engaged employees drive improvements in the quality of care and the patient experience

See how one emergency department applied strategic engagement techniques to inspire employees to take their game to the next level.

Research proves that when employees are happy, patients are happy. The emergency medicine team at Essentia Health–Fargo prides itself on providing compassionate and comprehensive care when injury and illness strike without warning, when patients and their families often feel lost and vulnerable. Essentia caregivers believe they are called to make a healthy difference in people’s lives.

The engagement strategy adopted by the emergency medicine team is helping bring that mission to life in Fargo. The Fargo ED is performing in the top quartile of PRC’s national ED database, registering a more than 200% improvement over the past three years.

In this webcast, Essentia Health’s Lyn Telford, RN, explains how the ED at Essentia Health–Fargo enhanced both quality of care and patient satisfaction by engaging employees. The engagement solution included:

  • Increasing transparency
  • Making information relevant and understandable
  • Recognizing team members for excellent work
