Dune Diaries: Tuesday, May 22

May 22, 2018

If you’ve never ridden a bike down the beach at sunrise, we highly recommend it based on some of the amazing photos and great stories our attendees shared from today’s morning movement! After that, we all gathered for a breakfast keynote with Ali T. Asery, M.D., MHA. Our morning breakout sessions helped attendees understand why metrics matter to the patient experience within their hospitals, a theme which continued in the third morning keynote from Michael Rothman, Ph.D., and Thomas Flynn, MSN, RN, CWCN, CSSBB.

This afternoon’s lunch also hosted our Charting a Course for Excellence Video Contest! Three finalist videos were played, and the audience voted for their favorite, Carson Tahoe Health. Their charming Brady Bunch themed video demonstrated both the good humor and empathy with which they treat their patients. PRC will help Carson Tahoe hold an employee celebration event to honor all the hard workers they made part of their Carson Tahoe Bunch.

Transforming Culture through Leadership ended the afternoon, first with two keynotes by David Herman, MD, and Nancy Susick, RN, FACHE, and then with breakout sessions. Each session encouraged participants to consider how the culture of their workplace may help or hurt patients and staff and what impact leadership has on culture. The learning concluded with a moving and beautiful patient story about the importance of tenacity and kindness in the healing journey.

Tonight, we’re excited to offer the grand finale of the conference, the Celebrating Excellence Awards Reception and Gala. The Top Performers and recipients of an Award of Distinction will accept their awards, as well as our recipients of the Leading Light Award, IHE Culture of Excellence Award, and PRC President’s Award.

On behalf of everyone at PRC and IHE, thank you to everyone who made this conference wonderful. From our team of associates and our guests to the speakers and sponsors, the teamwork and friendliness displayed this week has truly embodied what we stand for. Thank you for another wonderful conference and we look forward to seeing you in 2019!
